Russell D. Moore

Russell D. Moore is Dean of the School of Theology and Senior Vice President for Academic Administration at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.[1] He is also a pastor, author of nine books[2] and numerous articles, as well as a teacher, and a theologian.

Biography

Russell D. Moore was born and reared in Mississippi. Early in his career, he was an aide to U.S. Congressman Gene Taylor. After feeling called to full-time church ministry, Dr. Moore began regularly preaching and teaching the Bible. He was a youth pastor at Woolmarket Baptist Church and Bay Vista Baptist Church in Biloxi, MS. Moore then went on to complete his education. He received a B.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi, an M.Div. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He became Dean of the School of Theology and Senior Vice President for Academic Administration of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky in January, 2004. He is also a preaching pastor at Highview Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky.

He writes and speaks frequently on topics ranging from the Kingdom of God, to the mission of adoption, to a theology of country music. He is a senior editor of Touchstone Magazine.[3]
